Our physics support is provided by in-house board-certified physicists offering complex treatment planning.  The latest diagnostic imaging technology including PET/CT and MRI is used to develop treatment plans.  Using this technology our radiation oncologists can design treatments with pinpoint accuracy, ensuring that tumors get the highest doses while healthy tissues and organs are spared.  Radiation therapy uses x-rays to kill or shrink cancer cells while preserving as many normal surrounding cells as possible.

Radiation therapy may be used preoperatively to decrease the size of a tumor before surgery, post operatively to destroy any remaining cancer cells after surgery, or in many cases, as the primary treatment.  It is often used in conjunction with chemotherapy and is used to treat the following types of neoplasms:

  • Brain
  • Head and Neck
  • Lung
  • Breast
  • Esophagus
  • Gastric
  • Colorectal
  • Prostate
  • Testicular
  • Cervical

Radiation therapy is also used to alleviate the pain and reduce symptoms caused by cancer.
